Spinning, Knitting

It's been a while since updated this blog so I thought I would with photos of my recent spinning and knitting projects. Spinning- I have 7 skeins of wool from some fiber Paula gave me. I love spinning this fiber. I also am spinning another bit that she gave me for my birthday, it's on the wheel now. And a new pair socks on the needles along with the Einstein Jacket.

Sharing the final product

Well here I am back at our blog. I wanted to share this picture of my finished shoalwater shawl. I loved this pattern and thank you Paula for all the help you gave me in finding that mistake.

Much too long since I've posted.....

Hi to all....I can't believe I've been so long without a post.

As you can see, EZ has been a part of my life this Spring and Summer. All of these sweaters were for my friend T's baby who will be born some time this month. I've had fun knitting for her.

I'm on Ravelry now...look for me as paulainrevere (I'll bet you would have guessed that one.)

And now I must go do some knitting.

Take care,

Paula

Christmas was quiet but lovely

Quinn enjoyed a good cigar today...sent to him by his cousins Sinatra and Atlas.
Monte's vest from Pepper is 3/4 done, and I've promised to finish it by the first week in January.
The day was quiet...the food was good... and we walked on the beach after eating too much.
And now, I need some sleep.
Have a good week all,
Paula

Happy Halloween

So it's the last day of Oct. And even though the sky was clear yesterday the scenery has changed. Last Thursday I was looking at the most beautiful tree displaying it's fine red fall color out behind our house in a neighbors yard. In the morning the sun would shine on it and it glowed. In the evening when the sun swung around it would shine on the other side and it looked breath taking. After our wind storm I went out and every leaf on that tree is gone. Winter is around the corner.

I haven't worked on much lately. My father inlaw passed away on the 21st and for about a week my husband and I ran around trying to "make arrangements". But we are just realizing that our day to day worries over his care are gone and over. He had a long life and a good one too. He had no regrets and didn't suffer.

On to fiber, I did finish the scarf sample for A Good Yarn in Brookline MA. I also have about 90 ridges done on the Einstein jacket. I am half way through the second sleeve for my denim vest which will become a jacket. And I have been trying to finish up the last of the Indigo Moon Fiber I bought at Spa weekend last year. I love this stuff. Wool/silk and a pretty color. My camera doesn't do justice to the color of this fiber. Pink with just a smattering of yellow/gold mixed in.

I plan to make some glovelets and a hat. I also want to get a scarf done for my sister as she has been battling cancer for a number of years now. You go Sis! Never give up! Here are some pictures of the plyed yarn and singles on the bobbin.

Pepper

Pepper is a Romney sheep whose fleece I have bought twice. I had her fleece spun into three big fluffy batts, and from one of them I've spun some yarn. These ten skeins are going to be a vest for Monte...the easy vest in "Men in Knits." I still have about two and 1/3 batts left...plenty of wool for another project one day.
And my knitting...I'm still trying to finish up the zillion socks I've started. I'm finally doing two socks on a circular, and they're looking pretty good.
And now, I must go and relax a bit. Hopefully I'll blog again soon,
Paula

September Knitting

Here in New England fall has been in the air already. So my knitting thoughts turn to what to knit for fall. The weatherman says summer will return for a day or so this week. I have for the past few years relied on my birch tree in the back to tell me when fall is really coming! As for knitting the lace scarf now resides at A Good Yarn in Brookline MA. http://www.agoodyarn.biz/ thank goodness.

I am working on a set of sleeves for a denim vest. The pattern is simple stockinette, from the september issue of Creative Knitting. I also pulled out a old sweater I had started 3 years ago. The snowflake sweater from Harrisville designs. I actually had a lot done on it. And it was to be my learning experience in steeking. I am still working on the Mystery Stole II and plan to finish it up. I also joined the Rose of England knit along on yahoo groups. In exchange for my knitting the lace scarf I was able to trade for some lorna's lace. In my favorite colors, I also got a couple other wonderful skeins of yarn. One of which is hand dyed by Danny at a Good Yarn. She does a beautiful job on dyeing. And some shepards sock, sock yarn.

I blocked a piece of lace I worked on for a center of a shawl. I started it when I joined the Heirloom knitting group. But alas it got put on hold and never finished. I have decided to make the border out of some jacob fleece I spun. I haven't totally decided on what lace border to add to it yet. The knitting projects are many.

I also bought some Russian lace yarn. Two skeins are 50/50 wool/acrylic and one skein is 100% wool. The price was right on EBay. Although it seemed like it took forever to get here. The mailman brought it to my door, and said I just need you're signature on the package from Kiev. I smiled and said "my yarn from Russia" he laughed and said 'oh getting fancy on me now with yarn from Russia'. I have had the same mailman for over 10 years now, I guess he knows my yarn purchases better then my husband does.

That's all for now. Happy knitting!
